Restoring Abilities

When we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, our spiritual restoration begins. Therefore we should make an effort to restore our natural abilities. The Holy Spirit opens our eyes to realize that we are precious in the eyes of our Creator, who created us to do good things:

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Therefore, we have the desire and the ability to do certain things. Naturally, we enjoy life more fully when we find our niche and engage accordingly. God desires that we work together as a team and in harmony. Our collaboration and dependency on each other, like the members of one body, prove that we are members of God’s family!

So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family..” Ephesians 2:19 NLT

It shouldn't surprise us that everyone loves to do something for their church or group according to their abilities. Yet only specific assignments that resonate with our passion and natural or spiritual abilities invoke our interest. That doesn't mean we should only do things we love and ignore our chores and duties. For example, most of us don't like washing the dishes, but we do it as part of our responsibilities. In childhood, maybe we didn’t want to brush our teeth, but we cared for our teeth to be good stewards of the body God gave us. Because if we don’t care about our bodies, how can we care for others? But if all we do are chores, it will drain our energy, and we will soon burn out. But when we choose a job according to our passion, we bring excitement and energy into our lives instead of boredom and weariness.
