Financial Support
While God is the greatest giver, humans often prioritize gathering for themselves over giving to others. Parents frequently need to remind and discipline their children to share with their siblings, highlighting our natural inclination to hold on to what we have. This tendency can make many people feel uneasy about donating to non-profit organizations.
In Malachi 3:10, God promises to open the gates of heaven and bless those who financially support the church and those in need. When we contribute to a church or Christian ministry as partners, we join in the blessings of spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. Giving from the heart is a noble act.
As humans, our desire to accumulate wealth and possessions can create a false sense of power, safety, and security. Often, we may only consider giving to those who show kindness to us or can repay our generosity. Yet, as we grow spiritually, God transforms our hearts and motives. He enables us to recognize the needs of others and to give joyfully and willingly.
Many born-again Christians generously support churches and non-profit Christian ministries, typically contributing around 10% of their income. While some give more and others may contribute less, the essential principle remains: we should give willingly and cheerfully, not grudgingly or under compulsion, as stated in 2 Corinthians 9:7.
Our contributions are vital in supporting those who dedicate their lives to preaching the Gospel. They ensure that churches remain open and provide the resources necessary for missionaries to share the message of salvation, even in remote areas where people might not have access to Christian radio. It's important to remember the sacrifices made by many missionaries, some of whom have lost their lives in the pursuit of spreading hope and faith. Through our generosity, we can help expand God's kingdom and support those in need, whether in our communities or beyond.
Throughout history, many evangelists have dedicated themselves to their mission without relying on financial support, choosing instead to work hard while spreading the message. A prime example is the apostle Paul, who often faced financial challenges yet continued to preach fervently wherever he went:
'Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me. I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive".' Acts 20:34-35 (NKJV)
A greedy heart will never find satisfaction, while those who place their trust in the Lord remain grateful and fulfilled. The Lord desires for us to enjoy our lives fully. By working diligently, helping others, and placing our trust in Him, we discover a sense of abundance in all aspects of life, all by the grace of the Lord!
“…test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be room enough for.” Malachi 3:10
