The Holy Spirit
“If you love me, keep my commandments. I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.” John 14:15-17
The greatest gift God has granted us after our salvation is the Holy Spirit, an incredible honor and privilege that allows us to experience intimate fellowship with Him! From the very first moment of our salvation, we are enveloped in the constant care and attention of the Holy Spirit, guiding us to learn about the kingdom of God and grow stronger in our faith. We are called to partner with the Holy Spirit in liberating others from the grip of darkness.
As described in earlier chapters, God has revealed Himself in three divine persons, beginning in the book of Genesis, the Bible's first book. The Holy Spirit, known as "the Spirit of God," is the third divine person. The Scriptures illuminate the role of the Holy Spirit in full detail. He grants us wisdom, strength, courage, discernment, and purpose. His radiant holiness purifies us and enables us to live honorably. His presence fortifies us in the critical spiritual battle, empowering us to quench the fiery arrows of evil. In a world saturated with false teachings, the Holy Spirit transforms and restores us, leading us to fulfill the divine plans that God has already ordained:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.” Acts 1:8
