The Holy Spirit
“If you love me, keep my commandments. I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.” John 14:15-17
The greatest gift God has given us after we were saved is the Holy Spirit, and it's a great honor and a privilege to have an intimate fellowship with him! We have been under constant care and the attention of the Holy Spirit from the first day of our salvation to learn about the kingdom of God and grow stronger. We are invited to partner with the Holy Spirit to free people from the power of darkness.
As mentioned in earlier chapters, God revealed Himself in three divine persons according to the book of Genesis, the Bible's first book. The Holy Spirit is “the Spirit of God” or the third divine person. The Scriptures teach about the Holy Spirit and his role in great detail. The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom, strength, courage, discernment, and purpose. His radiant holiness purifies and helps us to live honorably. His presence in our lives strengthens us in this crucial and spiritual warfare to quench the fiery arrows of evil. The deceptive nature of false teachings would otherwise lure us into following the corrupt practices of this world. Instead, he transforms and restores us to do what God had planned beforehand:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.” Acts 1:8
