Absolute Rest
If our sole ambition were to gather wealth and power, why do so many who attain these goals still feel an emptiness within? The answer is unmistakable: we crave absolute peace and security!
We wrestle with fears of the future and the uncertainty beyond our control. We worry about losing our jobs, facing serious illness, losing beloved friends, and the day when our secrets may be laid bare. The unknown fills us with dread. This fear propels us to work harder and strive faster in our relentless pursuit of status, power, and safety. We yearn for happiness and peace, yet instead, we find our anxiety and grief intensifying. Even during our vacations—meant for rest—we struggle to find comfort.
True rest, however, may only be found in encountering the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. It is in His presence that our fears begin to dissipate, allowing us to uncover genuine joy and tranquility. When the moment arrives to depart this world and leave our earthly possessions behind, we will discover profound rest in His divine peace, living and reigning with Him for all eternity!
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest …” Hebrews 4:9-11 NKJV
